About

This is what I’d like you to know about me (the short version):

During hockey season, this blog is 99 percent hockey.

When it is no longer hockey season (aka none of my teams are in the playoffs), this blog is mostly whatever I’m currently fan-girling over, and this year, it’s the Avengers and also Jeremy Renner, please enjoy his stupid face all over my blog (last year, you ask? It was X-Men: First Class). This blog is 90% queue since I moved halfway across the world. I’ve also started reading some comics (right now it’s just Marvel) so you’ll see those here too.

In private, I have recently taken to ranting about Renner’s stupid face and how #coulsonlives. When I fall into a fandom, I fall hard.

Ask me about books, music, hockey, or the Avengers/X-Men (movies only, since I haven’t had the opportunity to read a lot of comics yet - except Hawkguy. Hawkguy is the best.) and I’ll talk your ear off. Maybe.

This is my books/comics/movies log for 2013. I’m trying to keep it updated so I can look back at it at the end of the year and wonder what was I doing with my life.

This is what I’d like you to know about me (the long, long version):

I’ve been a hockey fan for exactly (exactly) two years and three days (as of January 3, 2013). I regard the day of the Winter Classic as the day of my anointment as a hockey fan, or if there isn’t a Classic one year, January 1 suffices. Since the 2011 Classic, the sport has taken over my life and made studying on game days an exercise in futility.

The team that I will always, always cheer for is the Washington Capitals, although the San Jose Sharks, Chicago Blackhawks, Anaheim Ducks, Vancouver Canucks and Detroit Red Wings have all wormed their way into my heart and thus make the playoffs the worst and best time of my year.

Also, I like rivalries and the Western Conference will be the death of me. There is also only one team I truly dislike (the Bruins), although I seem to be getting close to adding a few more to that list.

I will admit to laughing a lot at hockey players being weirdos, but who doesn’t?

Other than hockey, I enjoy reading, writing, sleeping, and music, amongst other things. I will read anything I can get my hands on, and the current book I’m engrossed in is Mark Helprin’s Freddy and Fredericka. My current favorite author is Neil Gaiman, and you should go read American Gods now because it’s brilliant and awesome.

Speaking of books, I joined Pottermore recently, and was sorted into Ravenclaw, which I knew would happen ever since I read the first book. Ask me for my username if you want to be friends on there!

My favorite band is Linkin Park, and I regret that I’ve never seen them live. Tied for second place are Muse and an assortment of other bands. I also love listening to movie soundtracks and trailer songs, the current ones on repeat being the X-Men: First Class, The Avengers, and Inception ones. Since I was dragged to a Nationals game recently (which led to be being a casual Nats fan), I’m also listening to Alex Clare’s Too Close on repeat.

I also like to mess around with photos and make edits and draw weird stuff with my average drawing skills, hence the creation of Ask the Caps and my edits blog. To fuel my editing obsession, I downloaded a trial version of Lightroom and I am in love with it.

I like to think I’m funny, but most of the time I’m probably not, you have my Twitter as proof.

That’s pretty much it. If you’ve read through this entire thing, I love you, you’re my new best friend, and please, don’t hesitate to ask me anything or yell at me for writing an entire essay about myself (no, really, I’m not a narcissist, at all). Here, have a nice hug gif as a reward:
